Looking for something new to watch? Netflix just released their take on Lemony Snicket’s ‘A Series of Unfortunate Events’. The show is based of of the classic book series by Daniel Handler. The series is piling up favorable reviews and just after 8 episodes, the audience is anticipating another season. The adaptation seems to be a lot similar to the movie adaptation made in 2004, starring Jim Carrey, but very different as well. The series follows the three Bauldelaire children, Violet (Malina Weissman), Klaus (Louis Hynes), and Sunny (Presley Smith). After their house burned in a fire and their parents died in it, they were left as orphans. They are lead by Mr. Poe to find them a new home. They jump to several different distant family members, Count Olaf (Neil Patrick Harris) being the first. They soon realize that Olaf is after their large inheritance rather than caring for them. He fights for custody of the children in disguises and all to get his hands on their parents’ vast fortune with the help of his ‘acting’ friends. One thing leads to another and they end up in the home of their Uncle Monty’s (Aasif Mandvi) house, then their Aunt Josephine’s (Alfre Woodard) after a series of unfortunate events. The critics are loving the show and people believe it to be better than the 2004 adaptation. Go check it out for a quality show. It’s changing the tone of Netflix as a whole and people are excited for what’s to come.
