It was a hit and run. Ben Wills applied to only two colleges including his dream school, California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly), and a back up, CU Denver. With a $2000 Merit Scholarship, he is paving his way to Cali to pursue his interest in architecture, and he’ll be in the right place to do it too; Poly Tech is the second best school for architecture in the nation. With senior year approaching and ending as quickly as they do, Ben admits, “it was kinda hard to figure out what I wanted to do…” so he jumped to what he would likely enjoy most: architecture. The specifics on what he’ll minor and major in are somewhat general and may very easily change as new opportunities present themselves; luckily, Poly Tech provides Ben with 7 teaching credentials, 32 master’s degrees, and 64 bachelor’s degrees to choose from.
“I don’t know how their going to take it…I guess it’ll be ok…I don’t know, I might get homesick. I don’t think they’ll care.” With his older brother already up in Fort Collins, his parents will finally have an empty nest and it sounds like Mr. and Mrs. Wills will be quite fine on their own.
