On Tuesday at Centennial’s home gym, the Bulldogs took on the Pueblo West Cyclones and faced an unfortunate loss. The Bulldogs put up a strong fight, but the Cyclones were the ones to walk out with the win.
In the first set, the Cyclones worked well to connect passes, while the Bulldogs struggled to defend the serves coming from West’s side of the court, although they did work together at certain times resulting in a score of 25-14.
In the second set, junior Maddie Bigley and senior Mara Smith worked well together in making a tremendous block while junior Nicole Buttrum made an amazing spike scoring the Bulldogs final point before Pueblo West score their final point making it 25-10.
In the third, and final set, the Cyclones once again took the win although the Bulldogs were the first to score. Senior Mara Smith explains that the Bulldogs really didn’t want it to be over that quick, which resulted in them coming out with a bang and scoring the first couple points, “By then we just really wanted it and so we worked hard and well as a team but unfortunately, we just couldn’t get it.” You can catch the Bulldogs again Thursday at 7 PM against County High School here at our home court.
