High School is all about learning and growing, and as the years have gone by, junior Leroy Ortiviz has definitely figured that out.  Reflecting on his experience so far at Centennial, Leroy noted that, “It’s getting better than it was before, and I’ve learned a lot these past three years, especially about people, how sometimes you mature more when you let people help you out, and most importantly to stay away from negative people.”

Sometimes teenagers can be indecisive about their future, but Leroy knows exactly what he wants to do with his life. “I plan to go to the Marines just like my great grandpa and uncle did…carrying on that tradition is important to me, so is getting out of Pueblo, exploring the world, and meeting new people.”  In the meantime, his main focus is getting better so he can graduate, as well as getting into football, track, and doing some body building competitions.  Leroy made it a goal of his to make his grandpa and girlfriend Angelina proud, “My grandpa has always been there for me, so I’d say he has been the most influential person in my life which makes me want to do better for him.” He also noted that meeting his girlfriend, Angelina, is his favorite memory of high school because she helps him study and keeps him away from bad people.

Overall Leroy just wants people to know to “not to judge a book by its cover.”  He believes that everyone has a fear of being judged, especially going into high school, which is why his goal for high school and life is to just be a good person and continue to grow.  “High school has been a big growing point for me because it taught me who I am and I know deep down I got a good heart.”
