Being a student-athlete is not an easy life to live, and senior Maddie Bigley can attest to this. Maddie Bigley is a four-year varsity volleyball player that is involved in many extracurricular activities, such as being the student body president, working part-time at Baskin Robbins, and participating in Girl’s Cabinet, Club Volleyball, and NHS. She also manages to do all of this while also maintaining a 4.0 GPA.
Bigley, who started playing volleyball when she was six years old, says that it can be hard to maintain balance with academics as well. “The biggest challenge of being a student-athlete would have to be getting enough rest and balancing everything…although being a student-athlete is a hard role to take on, I love being able to represent my school, both academically and athletically.”
Maddie plans to further her education and athletic career next fall at McDaniel’s University in Maryland.
